I saw a woman recently on a tv show using what looked like an acrylic ruler with slits cut into it. She put her rotary cutter in one of the slits and cut a straight line on a fabric strip. She then put the cut outs together to make diamonds or something like that. I'm trying to find out where I might be able to purchase a ruler like that. I've seen circle acrylic templates with slits cut into the acrylic to make a half circle or circle but I cannot find one that is a straight ruler, not a circle. Does such a product exist and where might I find one?

Thanks

I have both the "shape cut" and "quarter cut" made by June Tailor. The quarter cut has 1/4 inch slots and the shape cut has 1/2 inch slots. JoAnn Fabric carries them along with some of the WalMarts.

I found mine on Ebay. Very handy when cutting strips.

I have them both (the 1/2 & 1/4) Use my 1/2 all the time, like for most of my cutting. Got both at JoAnns with 1/2 off coupon. Careful though, because of slits it can break easier. I'm on my second 1/2" one!

I have 2 of them, but 1 of them is broken on one side, but it had been well used by the time it broke, I'm not even sure how it broke, I think my gd had something to do with it. Love them.

I have a June Tailor ruler with the 1/2" slots. I think it was sold for fleece and mainly for cutting fringe on scarves and such. I use it on fabric. It is my FAVORITE ruler! I use it most and all the time!

Oh, yeah. I got mine at Wal-Mart probably a year ago or a little more. I paid too much for it, so I thought. I thought the price was like $5, and I thought it was a SUPER deal! When we got home and looked at the receipt, it had been like $15...but it's been worth it!

Hi,
I am a newbie to the message board, and I am using you to get my feet wet (so to speak). I don't know where to get that tool, but I have a better description of it, in case anyone else does. The show was "Sewing with Nancy" and she was making a half triangle square with two squares. The tool's cut outs allowed you to line up the two opposite points and once thy were lined up you just marked the wrong side of the top fabric square on either side of this "ruler."
After removing the tool you then sewed on the lines. Using your rotary cutter down the center of the two lines, there was a perfect seam allowance and once ironed open, two perfect squares of two half triangles. I am sure, if someone had the e-mail address of the "Sewing with Nancy" show, they could tell you how to get one. It was neat, and I want one, too. If I find it, I will writew back. :-)
