I've been working on finishing old projects. One of them is the McKenna Ryan "At Home in the Woods". It states to trace the applique pieces on the paper side of the web. It says the pieces are in the reverse view. Doesn't that mean you lay the web down down on the pattern and trace it on the paper? I'm using Heat and Bond Lite which has only one paper. I also used the donut method to reduce bulk of layers of fusible. That's what I did, but it is now backwards of the picture on the pattern. HELP!!! I now remember why I stuffed this very expensive BOM in a box and never finished it. Directions are not the greatest. Thanks, Donna C in WA

When I made this I just traced them like you said and they came out right. After you iron it to the fabric they will be reversed so, the same as the pattern.

Remember that you iron it to the BACK of the fabric, so it should be just fine. When in doubt, look at your tracing from the side with the web, not the paper, to see if it matches the finished pattern photo.

Do you remember having problems with block 4 which is the top right side with a moose and fisherman? Either I'm blind or brain dead because the mtns won't go together as pictured. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Don't you just hate that feeling of total frustration.

It's been a while but I think I just moved them around until they looked ok. I had to go look at the quilt and they aren't in the exact same place as the pattern but nobody would ever know if I didn't tell them.

I wiggled mine around too, but after I took off the paper backing I lost the letter for the pieces, so now I'm not sure which is which. I know one problem was I had the pink mtns reversed, which did help. I don't have a way to send a picture. Sorry. Thanks for the ideas and pep talk. Donna

Block 4 is finished and looks wonderful. I finally just did some "adjusting" of the pattern. LOL I'm sure McKenna would love me on her design team! All the other blocks look much less complicated. Did you leave the raw edges or use another method? Since this will be a wall hanging I think I will leave them and just quilt it so that it gives dimension and keeps the edges down. Sounds like I know what I'm doing.

I'm going to start doing the one with all the birdhouses and I was reading the directions and am confused like you so I put it down for the moment and was going to do something simple for fall and don't you know it is the same thing with the paper and I though oh let me sit down when I'm fresh and can think. I did something the other day and got it on the piece it was little but I'm not sure I did it right and I sure don't want to mess up this Bird Quilt I love McKenna's pieces they are so pretty I guess because I love nature. I saw her do a block on Fon's & Porter a while back and it is in one of their mag's. I hope you've had good luck. I used to use that fusible all the time and now can't figure it out. Good luck. Sue
