Someone has one here locally on Craigslist. Are these frames worth it, or do they have problems?
Here's the ad.

Built from a kit using pine 2X6's and metal poles, this is a solid, complete Quilt Frame. The kit itself cost $70, I have over $100 in it. No longer using it. My loss, your gain.

If they are asking a great price and you can look at it before you buy it and it seems sturdy enough, then I don't see anything wrong with it

If I am not mistaking that is a frame by Hinterberg. I purchased one years ago because I was going to do hand quilting, but didn't have the time. If it is the same one, it is a sturdy frame.

thanks! I still have not heard back if it's still available, but if it is, I'm definitely going to go look. I've been getting into hand quilting more and more, and I'm thinking that I should HQ the Crown Royal quilt because of it's size and because of the velour terry cloth on the backing. This would be just the thing for that quilt.

Update: it's still available! I am so excited! it's my birthday present to myself

Happy Birthday!! I saw one similar just last week. My Aunt's friend brought it over to her house to tie off a few quilts. They had it set up in her basement. It was very solid/sturdy. Didn't take up too much space. The great thing about it was that it could easily be taken apart for moving or for storage and reassembled just as easily. Someone had made it for the her friend. I asked my Aunt to find out if there were pattern, or if he made them, what he would charge. Haven't heard back yet.

Hi! I have a frame similar to this one by Hintenberg and it is great. It is very sturdy. That is a great price. If it were me I would not hesitate to get it for that price. Hope it works out for you. I also have the accessories to make it a queen size.

I have one. No compalints at all! Grab it, you'll love it. Very adjustable...height, angle, even width if you plan it right. Tilts to upright to take up less room when not in use, even with the quilt still mounted. Has a nice little place to mount a goose neck light, too.
