Thanks to everyone for your input on a new machine. I got the Janome HD 1000 and i love it. It's a basic machine, but its a workhorse. I've only used it for a week or so and am still learning what it can do, but so far so good. MySinger walking foot fits...yea!...and i got a new quarter inch foot. This foot has a little slide guide and it'spractically impossible to mess up a quarterinch seam. I'm just a happy little quilter! Anyone looking for an inexpensive basic machine, this is it!

I think the Janome straight stitch machines are marvelous workhorses. I am glad you like yours.
