I have never heard that term before today and I have been around the quilting industry for over 25 years.

From what I'm looking at I'm guessing it is lots of white, very tiny prints on white, not bright colors-pastels simple quilting.

yes, I'm not sure why the other phrase is used, but that's what they are.

Wow both those links really illustrate "low volume" - I don't think I have enough low volumn fabric to attempt one - I go for brighter colors, but I really like that I Spy quilt - so soft and restful.

Several years ago I found a book at JA called Floral Quilts from Grandma's Cupboard published by Leisure Arts by Michelle Blackhurst. It has the same pink lucious look of the web site mentioned above. I got crazy and made 5-6 of the quilts and they are so girly. They are not quilted but I have 6 grandaughters so I am sure they will get them someday.

Elizabeth Hartman has a Craftsy class with modern quilts. One of the projects is a low volume and this is the quilt I made for the class. So, most of the fabrics are low contrast but the shot of color livens things up.
