Default Need help with border size

I am making a quilt for a wedding that is in 11 days. I have the blocks put together and the first and second borders on. So far it measures 66 x 91, I have at least one more border to put on. Would it look strange if I put a 12" wide border on the sides and a 6" border on the top/bottom for the third border to make the size a total of 90x103. Somehow I need to get more width without increasing the length.

    any ideas are welcome

I have tried to upload a picture of the quilt but since the changes to the board I find it almost impossible to do so

Having side borders larger (or in another cae top and bottom) is fine. I don't think I would make the 12" all one color tho as that makes it look like you are trying to enlarge it unless it really makes it look framed. Depending on the quilt itself maybe you need to put in some other designed fabric or maybe add some blocks that mimic the basic quilt. Good luck.

Could you use a 6" square block and put 1 row on top/bottom and a double row on the sides? I have been able to do this with some quilts, but there are others it just won't work.

I go along with what ka9sdn said. I think the 12" border would look okay, but I would not use just one fabric.

My thoughts, too. I'd use 2 more borders for the wide side & just 1 on the narrower one. Please post a pix when you get this one done, OK?

I've tried to post a pic but it keeps failing. I'm starting to think if I go with 2 borders all the way around same width on all sides, I will have the perfect size for a 10" tuck (bed spread)

cant get pic to upload but here is a link to the quilt on pinterest http://assets5.pinimg.com/upload/252...7_2SICC5Oo.jpg

I have done what you have suggested making it longer. It worked out good for me (sorry no pictures) and everyone loved it
