Dottymo thanks. Yet another idea! Now that you mention it I have SBS quilts with hand embroidery and machine quilting, but I never made the connection in my mind. Your quilt is beautiful. What's the name of your tulip block? I'm thinking one slightly larger block with border as a topper for my little table. That is soooo pretty!

Don't see a problem with it. You simply want to achieve different effects by different means. ENJOY!

I remember asking this same question on this board and was told the same thing as what is being said now. I machine pieced, machine quilted, hand quilted, and hand needle turn appliquéd this quilt. Was very honored to receive a champion ribbon at our county fair with it.

Your quilt, your rules!! Simple, unless you are planning to enter the quilt in a show, then follow their rules.

Pahega, your quilt is beautiful. Did you hand quilt the entire white section or just around the flowers? I see some cable quilting which I am guessing is hand quilted. Also see what I think is channel quilting on the squares. I love the combination here and love the addition of Prairie Points, too. No wonder you won! Thanks for sharing.

I hand quilted around the appliquéd flowers and inside the white border. I machine quilted a cross hatch in the squares both in the middle of the quilt and the outer border. Thank you for the complements!
