Default Baby "Bricks" sizes

I am making a baby "brick" quilt. I have found many great tutorials and info on QB but am still undecided about what size to make the bricks. Most of the tutes say to pick the size you like but I am horrible at envisioning things. I know I need to make the squares about half the size of the rectangles. I would love some input from those who have made one. I plan on making the quilt itself about the size of a crib quilt batt. It will just have the bricks and some squares, no other design. Thank you!

I don't know what brick pattern you mean. The only one with rectangles and squares I can think of is Dissappearing 9 patch. Are you maybe asking about Log Cabin blocks?

Nesie, I used 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles and 3 1/2" squares. Used a variety of children's novelties, little prints and solids. Brenda

Thanks ladies! Quiltnama I think I'm going to make them the size you used. Didn't want to cut everything and then realize the "bricks" were too large for a baby quilt. Tartan it is similar in the blocky" effect, but not a disappearing nine patch. Will post when done-needs to be completed for a Jan 14 shower!

I did one 2 1/2 x 5 inch rectangles, and 2 1/2 inch squares. Was a queen size. Scrappy, small print rectangles, and white squares.

I cut these bricks at 4.5" x 6.5", and then add 1.5" strips on each side. This quilt size is 41 x 53. I make lots of I Spy quilts like this.

Tartan....she may mean an Around the World quilt...that one uses bricks of 7 x 3 1/4 inches. For a baby brick I would reduce to half that size.

I did a quilt using the pattern Fun With Bricks, using just bricks and squares. Google the name, you should find it and it was free.
