I would like directions for making mantle quilts. I want to make them for Xmas presents and don't know where to purchase the directions. Please help.

I think I'd probably not use a pattern .... and just create something that I wanted with patterns I have.

I'd be interested to see some that others have created for inspiration.

I do not have a fireplace/mantle, but do know that there are different size mantles.... I would think that SIZE will come into play when you find a pattern you like. There are many ideas for Christmas that I've seen on TV quilt shows over the years... Not sure I've seen any for other times of the year. Good luck.

I have been making quilts for over my fireplace. I wanted to make one for each month of the year but have been busy with other projects. I didn't buy a kit or anything just made then to the size I wanted and tried new blocks or lap/baby size patterns.
See the link below for some ideas and good luck.

Thanks! some lovely pieces there. I particularly like your Christmas tree.
You surprised me ... as I thought mantle quilts were the ones that sat on the mantle like a table runner, and then came down over the edge. OOPS!

I own a book with mantle scarfs in it. It tells you how to measure and change each design for size of mantle. However it's very old and probaby out of print. I would keep searching as there must be newer books out there. Good luck.
