Do you have a question for us? I made these using the freezer paper piecing method. You said you are doing foundation piecing, does that mean using fabric for the foundation material?

I paper pieced my NY Beauty blocks. Once I got the hang of it and in a rhythm it wasn't so bad. Are you having a particular problem? Or just struggling in general?

Did you take on a bigger challenge than you feel you can handle?? Tell us what the problems is and we can help you thru the process. You are not alone. I have been struggling to make a gift for the bank manager at my Credit Union. She is from England and I thought a mug rug of the Union Jack would be simple. YIKES !! I am on my second top because of fabric bleeding and I must have it done by Wednesday. I HATE deadlines !! So know you are NOT alone !!

Thankyou so much for the video link, very helpfull, I have obviously chosen a complicated pattern and have been cutting the fabric to small and to much like ordinary patchwork.

YES, you have to cut your piece much bigger when doing paper piecing. I take the outline of the finished dimensions and I add at least a half an inch on all sides. You might want to check Fons & Porter web site. They did a paper piecing episode and went thru the basics recently. Once you learn the ropes, you are going to be fine.
