Ruby the Quilter

I need a quick quilt for a shower gift and it needs to be fairly large. Has anyone made this pattern using 20 fat quarters in a just a few colors instead of 20 different ones?

Turning twenty is a WONDERFUL pattern. I'm sure you will be happy with it. I have made several quilts using it.

I made some smaller personal sized quilts-----------
1) one with 8 FQs in bright batics
2) one with a loud print for the big square and then tonals for the other two strips
3) and another with a good sized print for the big square and tonals for the two strips (squares done, not sewn together yet
4)I've got on half done with just one print for the big square and precut binding strips that were sewn together to make the other strips
5) worked on one today for a friend make out of 9 of her dad's shirts

I think I'm missing one

i have made turning 20's with 20 fq's of 5 fabrics (1 yd pieces) it turned out very nice- i liked it alot better than the one with 20 different fabrics- the one with 20 different was just too (busy-hodge-podge) for my taste- the one with only 5 different fabrics had a much nicer design (to me) and the person i gave it to loved it!
you can use what ever you like it's yours.

I did - I think I used about 10 fabric choices - it was for a toddler and my friend (her nephew) picked out varying themes he would like. It came out cute and he loves pointing to all the things he likes.

I did also using 10 different fabrics. I think it turned out great. Good luck !

I have made a take 20, and right now its quilted and on my bed, I used bamboo batting (love the stuff)
but its not cheap! It washes like regular cotton batting, lighter weight, and warmer than 100% cotton.
mine is the black white and red quilt that that lady did with her son. bought fabric @JA for the border-
its black n white plaid with poppies on it! made me think of mom, she always had poppies growing.
But I have to say take 5 is great! I teach occasionally at my LQS and take 5 is a fav, you can change it up
if you like and add more fabrics as well NO RULES!!
