    Unhappy Nothing is going right!

Do you ever have one of those days (or in my case several days!) where everytime you try to cut out your pieces for your quilt, you can't get it right? Monday night, I could cut the pieces the right size at all, then I cut about 20-30 pieces more than I needed. Then tonight I got to looking at my pattern and found out that I cut all of them the wrong size because I had marked my pattern wrong! Now I am not sure if I am even cutting out the other material right! I finally just gave up for the night and decided to play games on my computer instead! I am so frustrated. This is suppose to be a quilt for my Nephew when he graduates college in May but it may not get done now until Christmas at the rate I am going!!!!

Yes, I too have days like that. For me, the best bet is to step away and give it a rest. Sometimes my brain just can't wrap around whatever it is I'm suppose to be doing.

    ((hugs))

That has happened to me too - cut out all the pieces for a part of a quilt and the instructions were wrong so even though I followed the instructions I wasted two yards of fabric. I put it aside for a while and just this week brought it out again and finished piecing the blocks and put them together in a top. Next week I will pin baste it and then quilt it. Sometimes we just need to walk away. Be sure to read all the instructions so you can figure out where you are going wrong. Good luck.

Yes, but it was my sister. She was working in a small area. and the tape measure was laying under her material, being new to sewing she couldn't feel the tape and cut through it, and cut a little more and cut through it again. She said, " look what I just did, I cut the dang thing not once but twice". I'm sitting there laughing at her, and said, " that's because you didn't cut it right the first time." It took her a second for it to sink in and we both had a good laugh. She grabbed the pieces and threw them down the table. Well, she kept cutting out her material and soon came across a thicker piece of "material", she said, "man, that had a little bump in it. lol Yes, it was the tape measure again. I never let her forget it either. lol Oh yeah, I later went to the store and bought her a metal yard stick. She doesn't sew anymore. Syl

I am just finishing a quilt. It is QAYG with 32 blocks . I have counted and recounted and recounted and can't decide if I have 30, 31,or 32. So I'm going or it putting them together.i am sure these blocks have legs and are running me in circles. Last night thought I was 2short this morning found them ahhhhhh. Once they are joined they can't escape anymore.

I have learned from way too much experience that when I start making mistakes, or can't count correctly, that it is time to put the project down, and do something else. I don't work on my quilting if I get home from work later than 7:30.. It's not worth hanging out with the seam ripper for longer time..

Aw, I hope you all have cheered the OP up with your stories! I'm giggling over here, esp about the runaway blocks and the tape measure. Thanks for the smile.
Hugs to the OP...take a break and re-group.
