Meandering or Stippling?
I seem to be doing a lot of meandering lately. Mainly because I haven't branched out much. I have done some stippling. I perfer the meandering and wonder which is more popular of the two. When do you use one or the other?

meandering gets the required area quilted. it can be larger as long as the batting's quilting requirements are met. stippling is usually used when you want to sew down a space to make another part of the quilt 'pop'

I believe the difference is that when stippling your lines do not cross.
When meandering your lines may cross. It doesn't make a difference whether its a small, medium or large pattern of stitching.

stippling is very tight and the stitched lines/curves don't cross. usually used to fill in backgrounds. meandering is more loose. you can cross and make loops too. meandering is usually for larger areas or the whole quilt. stippling would be too much tight quilting for a whole quilt.
