Me and my daughter went to WalMart today to see if they had bungie clamps for my new quilting frame (daughter put it together while I finished a quilt)..Oh and to check out any sales they had on fabric. Found some good stuff and purchased 6 different patterns of cloth.
I looked on the pole and there was a small flier for a local quilt group meetings. I asked the lady that was cutting my selections about it and she told me she was a member. By this time another employee walked up and the cutter said "she is the president of the group"!
I thinking Finally some where I can go and learn! They meet every second Monday of the month at 7pm!
Now to see if they have a web site :)

Sounds like fun! I must admit I was so afraid of quilt guilds after reading the horror stories posted here. I was afraid to join any groups after reading about the Quilt Police and mean quilters. Quilting is supposed to be fun! I was crushed to learn there are mean and cranky quilters. It doesn't seem possible. This is a fun hobby. Why would anyone pick on you? Ridiculous, right?
But, I joined a local group and I've had so much fun. It's a blast and everyone is fun and encouraging. I think you'll enjoy sewing and learning with others. It really is a breath of fresh air and you learn so much from other members. Have fun!

I saw the same ad for the quilt group in Travelers Rest. Still can not find them listed on the Library calendar or any web site for them. I live in Greenville near Furman University and I at one time had a class every Tuesday afternoon down in St. Augustine Florida. I did this for about 6-7 years and since I am now up here in Greenville for 6 months out of the year I would like to get involved with a quilt group. If you wish to contact me that would be fine.
