I made my two daughters and the grown grandkids pillows out of their Paw-Paw shirts..and the grandchildren and greats...I made bears and rabbits...all these were for Christmas last year.. ...my DH passed away will be 2 years this coming Nov 1st. They all loved them..and something they can keep...just a thought that I wanted to pass on...

I made a baby quilt for my first great grandson from my late husband's shirts. The pattern was Cutting Corners by Missouri Star Quilt

We were having a family discussion the other day and quilting came up. My SIL looked at me with his big, soft, brown eyes and asked if I would make him a T-shirt quilt from his very old, very beat-up T-shirts. I looked at him with my old, experienced, blue eyes with a look that said something like, "Really? Seriously?" His big, soft, brown eyes looked back at me with pleading and conviction. Yes, he wants a T-shirt quilt.

:::sigh:::

Between you, me and the fence post, I love him with all my heart, but I do not want to make a T-shirt quilt out of his ragged shirts. Maybe I can convince him of another type of quilt.

I’ve got 5 quilts in my house for “general use” and the t-shirt quilt is the one that gets fought over. Everyone wants to use that quilt because it’s so soft and cuddly. It’s everyone’s favorite. Totally surprised me.

Thanks for sharing your pretty quilt, Lulu.

Tropit, I've made a bunch of T shirt quilts and the worst one was when I was sent all worn out, holey shirts to work with. I mean, there wasn't a shirt younger than 10 years old in the batch. It looked terrible when it was done. I decided I won't do that again. The price was paid, but the whole experience was rather demoralizing.

I have always used Pelion 906F with great results.

I'm afraid that is the condition of his shirts too. There are some beautiful memory quilts posted on this thread, but I don't think that I'll have the proper materials to make anything decent.

I use French Fuse tricot iron-on interfacing for T shirts.

I’ve used French Fuse tricot, too. Just make sure you’re putting the stretchy side of the tricot opposite of the stretchy side of the t-shirt, or the shirts will still be stretchy. It works very well!
