Memory quilts!
#1
My sister has asked me to make a quilt for each of her dogs total of 4 dogs (Gracie, Stewie, Wiggles and Oreo) and then a quilt for her couch. She want's a pic of each puppy in the middle and there name embroiderd above or bellow it.
What should I use to apply the pictures to the quilt? The quilt will need to be able to be washed alot as it is going in each of there beds.
What do you recomend for the material and batting? They live in Las Vegas but are moving to Scotsdale so a hot climate.
Thank you all! :)

For mine I used Electric Quilt Printables . It is like a fabric, that is specially treated and you put it through your printer. Soak in water for 10-15 minutes and it is set up . Mine have NOT been washed a lot so not sure how they will hold up to LOTS of washing , sorry . Then you just sew it like regular fabric
Good luck

after printing and letting ink dry (not long), you peel the paper off the back and treat it like any other fabric - cut/sew/fold/etc. My experience is that there is a slightly different/stiffer feel to this type of fabric than regular fabric, but still satisfactory for use in a quilt. I've done it several times and use Printed Treasures brand.

I've used printable fabric sheets on several projects, but don't have any information about frequent washing. I like the ones from EQ best. You put it in your color printer and then print the picture just as if you were printing them on paper. You can insert your picture in Word, or Powerpoint, or any computer program that you are comfortable with. Then you can also put a caption or the pet's name on the picture as well. Good luck. With these printable fabric sheets you do not use your own fabric. I've never done that before.
I've got a posting in the "pictures" forum of a quilt that is entitled "Memorial quilt for Tyler" where I printed many pictures. PM me if you want additional information.

Lois, did you use the EQ sheets on the Tyler quilt? That was absolutely beautiful. I have just seen so many photo quilts where the pics are all washed out. I wonder if the printer has something to do with that?
