The ONLY batting safe for the microwave bowls is WRAP N ZAP!! Joanns has it but it is$ 9.99 a package. Walmart has in the store and online for $499 a package. It is made by Pellon.

Does Walmart only sell it in their big Walmarts, because I have never seen it in the store?

I do not microwave with these. Use them to hold HOT bowls too hot for the lap.....

Insulbrite sells out as quick as Joanne's gets a shipment in here in the Dakotas. I need it for casserole carriers so I watch all the time.

I have found it at several Walmarts. Try to order online. It does come in small packages.

I don't worry about it. mine looks like yours too. I just figured it was because I use a lot of starch.

How about either partially drying them OR don't place in dryer at all...maybe set the damp or partially dry one on an overturned bowl to air dry....thus keeping it's shape?

I agree, not to use it. I used it to create a double sided tablecloth, one side for Fall/Thanksgiving and the other side Christmas, I don't have to worry about hot pans on my table. But I wouldn't use it in the microwave. Too many of these things have caught fire
