ok so I saw in a magazine rotary cutters that sharpen themselves when you use a ruler does anyone have these? Do they work well? What about sharpeners for your blades are they worth the money or should I just buy new blades?

The only thing I know about is the blue sharpener that Joann's sells and mine went in the trash! It didn't work.
    I just buy new blades.

It's the ruler that has the sharpener on it.

NAYY. Never used it so I can't comment.

I have a friend that has one. She says it extends the life of her blades. I have an electric sharpener and it definitely extends the life of mine!

At our July special sew-in one of the gals said the ruler works best if you get the rotary cutter that goes with it. She didn't like it with her regular rotary cutter.

I have the blue sharpeners for both my 60mm and 45mm rotary cutters. I find them great. You need to apply a bit of pressure. My 45mm has saved me plenty already. I haven't used the sixty yet.

I've had the 45 mm for years and think the "sandpaper" is wearing out. I'm going to try replacing it. I think it does a great job as long as the "nicks" aren't too bad. But I have found that the amount of pressure really makes a difference. What is the electric one? That sounds kind of interesting.

Fabric Hut sells these but I haven't checked them out. At first glance they looked expensive but I was in a hurry so I couldn't see what it was all about
