I went to Dollar Tree yesterday. Was looking for a couple of things but always wander around. I found what they called "giant clothes pins" but they were like small clamps. Came in white or white and blue - about 6 to a package. I had previously tried clamps and big black binder clips to hold fabric on my tables, but because my tables are not smooth on the underside of the edges, nothing would hold. These hold because the noses of them are smaller than regular clamps but they are just as strong as a clamp. 6/pkg for $1.00. I'm going back tomorrow for several more pkgs because this is one great deal. I can see me using them for lots of things including holding my quilt in a roll while I do fmq quilting on my machine.

The second deal I found was at Staples - they had a huge box of document protectors (for all those patterns I'm saving and ideas I have) for $10 - regularly $20. Picked up one box. Another deal.

What are your latest deals???

My/our best deal was the Singer 120U that we got from the lady I met in the craft aisle at Wal-Mart in The Woodlands. We got to talking about sewing when I asked if they still had fabric (not at that one) and some how or other we ended up talking about sewing heavier fabric for RenFaire costuming and she said she used to make things with Fun Fur, but didn't any longer and had a machine if I was interested in one that would do the heavier stuff. Now get this...when I asked the price, she said, "just come by my house and pick it up, I live in ---- just off of ----"!!!

This is a commercial machine in a good sized formica table, with several attachments, 3 plastic boxes of bobbins, the original manual copyright 1973, a treadle style foot feed that goes from a nice easy purr to omigosh take off for Mars fast. Even had a big bottle of the oil to go with it.

Sorry no pics...will ask SIL to take some. He is planning to use it for sewing leather. But the book says it can sew anything even really fine thin stuff.

At Hancock.com, right now, they have Christmas fabric (regular price of 5.99 and 6.99) for 1.99 a yard...I spent over a hundred dollars, but worth every penny, and its free shipping if you go over a certain amount.
