i would look and judge the quilt by the over all appeal it has to me which would include color and pattern how well the 2 go together

The colors catch my eye immediately (#1), but right afterwards, I notice the quality of the fabrics and the workmanship. A gorgeous quilt isn't so great after all if it's poorly sewn or is constructed with low-quality fabric.

(As an aside: My dad always told me "If you're going to do it, do it right." He used to build a lot of things, always puttering around in his shop, and when he built something, he made it to last. He sometimes went a little overboard, but by golly, nothing he made EVER fell apart! We always refer to his stuff as being "Daddy-Built". He's retired now and isn't able to build as much these days, but because of him, I try to make my quilts and other craft stuff the best I possibly can. :) )

#1-our first intial draw is color (good or bad)and design-if it didn't draw our eyes would your really have noticed! Once it gets our attention then we analize it.

#1 I am very in tuned to color, and sometimes its hard for me to look past a color combanation that I don't care for, and see the quilt. I don't know if I explained that very well. God bless. Penny
