Mojo ... Thanks ... Like I said, I really have no validity to what I said.
The cookie rack just seemed like a sensible option to the concern.

GingerK ... Like two peas in a pod, are we two Ontarians!
We'll just sit it out, while observing and learning!

My wideboard "hack" removed the perforated surface, as I have plywood mounted on a mesh metal ironing board, then covered with layers of flannelette and a cotton topping. I am guessing there are many similars out there, where cupboard tops, table ends, etc. are used as into an ironing surface.

I have the large 17 x 24 in wool mat. When I use it - it's on my ironing board, when i am not using it I hang it from one of those plastic hangers with clips and hang it on the edge of my desk or on the door (I have one of those over the door towel racks and it holds onto a lot of my quilting things on hangers (except towels). It doesn't seem to bother the mat - no loose or indented area and is able to air dry with no problem. But I live in So. Cal. which is very dry most of the year.
