I like it to be very silent. The only time I listen to music is when my neighbour on the right plays his Patsy Cline and Rosemary Clooney type records (which are easy to take), in order to drown out the annoying sound of the horse races and football that my neighbour on the left likes to listen to.(I generally wear ear-muffs when the stereo sound gets too much)...

They read/talk, I listen and sew quilts.
Although,
at the momenr I am listening to Bob Dillion's CHRONICALS. Did any of you know he had five kids?

10 pages and so far no one else who listens to progressive or hard rock, lol.

I prefer books on tape (CD) from the library but I also listen to music (as noted above) or listen to TV. I don;t have the cable run to my sewing room so I can only watch TV on the local channels.

Yes, I have a bunch of them...The CDs work best, I think.
They are wonderful. Just finished "Bizantium" It is the Christian history of Asia Minor (think Turkey) , the Middle East, and eastern Europe for 1200 years after Christ was alive.
Curiously my favorite, so far, is "Chaos" which is about things that are not geometrical. Although it is a DVD it is good listening, from the next room.
The good thing is that if you are interested in a topic, they will eventually get it for you!
Just ask...I wanted American History from discovery to 1776, and they got it!
The history of Languages is one,
The history of English is another,
I have the Metropolitan Museum in NY and the Louvre in Paris, both lots of pictures from their collections.
Space explorations, medical stuff, about music,
American and other pieces of world history, arts and philosophy are just some of their lecture series.
Some of them are 24 lectures, others more, others less.

My 1st preference is books on CD from the library which I load onto my iPod and then TV. My radio doesn't want to get good reception in my sewing room....I also have the laptop in there when necessary.

Yes ! It is his biography on a CD from the library.
It is fascinating!
(Sorry I spelled it wrong)
It is sooo different than you think.
He took off years away from the public and lived on the income from his music.
Together with his wife, he loved his kids, and was a full time parent...aparently, they spoiled the kids when they were little. Those years, he tried to avoid any public life and was very unhappy about the myths that grew up around his image, which of course made it worse.
I haven't finished it yet....
