I love to hand quilt and I would like to buy a "good" thumb thimble. The plastic thumb thimbles in most fabric stores are not what I am looking for. I want one that I have seen pictured in "How to" books that look like a regular finger thimble only larger so it fits the thumb. Does anyone know where I can buy one? or two?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Should be able to get one at your Walmart. I've never had good luck with thimbles but I read somewhere about sticky ones, maybe someone here knows.

I don't really use a thumb thimble. I either use a leather thimble that has an opening for my fingernail or the leather dots that stick to your finger. For my thumb I usually put the plastic oval stickies and that seems to be enough for me. With the plastic I can feel the needle, but yet don't poke myself!! :D :D

I wear a black leather thimble on my left thumb. Long ago I taught myself to handquilt from both directions with both hands. The hardest part is getting it to stay on when that hand is under the quilt. When quilting left handed I use the thumb with the thimble to push the needle. They carry them in most LQS and even Joanns. It is shorter than the light brown leather thimbles I use on my right middle finger.

Thanks for the reply. I need something as hard as plastic because I poke the needle right through the soft thimbles. I guess I am just too strong LOL
