Does anyone else get frustrated when quilters talk about their "studio" (they are usually the professionals).

I'm lucky enough to have a spare bedroom to work in and if only it didn't need a bed in it (buried as it is under mounds of quilting and embroidery "stuff") I might call it a studio. As it is, it's called the "sewing room"!

I have a gate-leg cutting table which extends to 6' and a workbench (a door bolted to two sawhorses which my husband put together for me). Since I'm not very tall, he was able to make it a perfect fit for me to sit at and sew.

When my children were still at home my "studio" was half the dining table (my husband had, and still has the other half to work on his stamp collection).

What's your "studio" like?

When I win the lottery   I will have a big and beautiful studio :D:D:D Until then, it will be my spare bedroom and the other portions of my home LOL
I wonder what an architect will think, when I say I want almost half of the house to be my quilting studio???? 8-)8-)8-)

I have a spare bedroom where I keep my fabric/patterns/tools - I sew in our never used living room - we now use our family room for family stuff!! :) One day I'll have a real sewing room - where all my stuff can be in one place - oh - I cut and iron in the dining room.

I heard once if you leave your ironing board up for more than 24 hours you can call it a studio. LOL

Really? OK then mine must be a super-studio since I never take it down (it's one more "table"!)

My mom used a spare room for years as her art studio. It wasn't until they moved that she finally got her "studio" - a two car garage. He built the 2400 sq.ft. one for him. I think I will stick to a spare room instead of being stuck out in a garage. No thanks. I have spread out around the house. Almost every room in the house has evidence of my hobby (and I don't mean finished projects!)

Being empty nesters we have the luxury of a bedroom that doesn't have a bed in it (2 people in a 4 bedroom house) So it has become office/sewing-craft room. We have a desk with 2 laptops on one side(my DH and I cannot work on one computer, tried to this year but it only lasted a week since when I want to be on the quilting sites he wants to be on the woodworking sites) and sewing cabinet and table for machine and serger on the other. It works for us and I do have a walkin closet used for storage, I love it. I love my kids dearly, but I am glad they all have their own homes now.
