I'm so disappointed! My absolute favorite quilt shop is closing. They're having a 40% off the vast majority of the store. It looks like the doors will close for good by mid December. :(
Luckily we still have a couple good ones nearby but this shop has all the bright, fun colors, tons of flannels (already gone but a few baby flannels), amy butlers, kaffe fassett, freestyle, etc. I'm really going to miss her shop!
If any of you are in the Chesterton area or COULD be LOL, please pm me for details it's called crazy eighths if you'd prefer to look up the info online.

I still have fabric and patterns undone from her! My dh will be so disappointed as he always went there for my birthday gifts

Sorry to hear it...is she still selling the store??

I use every holiday as an excuse to buy from her and sometimes just because. She had it posted to sell for quite a while. I don't know if there were offers or not. So sad to see her inventory cut in half----she always had the very best displays! She's going to retire, so I'm happy for her that she'll have some time for herself and family. She's always giving 110% to the shop and has been there for 7 years I think....that would take a toll on my family, I'm sure that it has been trying. But her shop is SO awesome!

I asked if she'd be selling from her website and she said no...doubtful...No. Hopefully with some time off, she'll have a change of heart.

oh, i am so sorry....my fav LQS (where I learned to quilt) closed a few years ago due to health reasons (the owner, not the shop!) and I still have not found "my" store yet, I do go to quite a few adn enjoy them, but not with the friendships I had at the other shop. So, I really understand your sadness and again, I'm so sorry!!!

That is sad!! I don't know what I'd do here for sure! We have several around us, but, only 1 really good one. Everything is there and you can drool and roam for hours and they don't care:)Let's hope it isn't contagious!:))Good luck-I feel for you! Skeat

Oh I'm sooo sorry! I know what that feels like. The 1st quilt store I went to where they helped me learn what I was doing shut the doors. All the stuff is still inside and has been like that for at least a year and 1/2. I sure hope lots more of them don't close with this economy....I only have 1 within an hours drive now!

sandpat-----all the stuff is STILL in there?? What a waste and how do you avoid drooling all over the window? I wonder if you could contact the owner/leasing company of the building and make an offer for the contents.

I have been to mine a few times and hope to make a trip or two before she closes for good. I'm so surprised that someone didn't buy her out already. What a shame to see it go.

Thanks Skeat and mamatobugboo. I have heard of other small businesses closing, not quilt shops locally though. She mentioned that her lease was coming up and she didn't want to renew and be locked in for another 3 years. But when I asked about selling online, she didn't seem interested in that either.

There is a huge clearance of a jewler in town and my DH said that there were signs out that looked like employees picketting but were 40% off going out of business sale signs.

Oh my gosh, is the shop up by the Indiana Dunes? My husband and I were up there about three years ago, and I went crazy in that store. Lots of great stuff, great sales. I had budgeted just $50 for quilt stuff that weekend and I still got lots of things there. Even if it isn't the same store, what a shame!

Yeah, its all still in there or was a few months ago when DH looked inside. (I'm not allowed) Anyway..I don't really know the story on it..just that she locked the door one day and has never been back. The store is stuffed full and I wouldn't venture an offer...I wouldn't have anywhere to put it all, but she did have some beautiful fabrics  Its a shame..
