OMG!!!! It was like walking into a candy store and your parents telling you to look but not touch or eat. My hubby asked last night what our plans were for today and I had to tell him we were going to the Quilt Show in Overland Park Ks. He said I couldn't spend any money.   ( I still spent some money but not a lot.) had to get thread for two quilts and a new ruler.
This is a real quilt show. I have never been to a real one. The one that I had been to when I was younger was more of an art show with a section for quilting in Sacramento. My mom was in the art show and so we all went. But this show was awsome. In my head I have spent well into 20,000. I know I know it is rediculous to spend that much at one time on a hobby but ohhhhhh I could have done it. So much fabric, thread, long arm machines, patterns, tools, and storage ideas. mean hubby telling me not to spend any money. well it is probably for the best, i could have spent a fortune there.
The quilts were soooooo beautiful. there was this one that was purple that I loved and this small one that was painted. One of the long arm booths had this beautiful black and white one that I loved and my favorite was call angel of hidden garden (I think) it was soooo pretty. I want to go back again. found these water color pencles that don't wash away when you wash your fabric either. It is really cool.
Anyone in Missouri know when the next show in the KC area is? next year I bet. Too long to wait. hehe
When is the next show?

Not all quilt shows are annual. Some are every other year. You should be able to Google "quilt show" and your city/state. I'm hoping you don't have to wait an entire year or more to see another show, they are so much fun! :)

Oh, I'm so excited for you!!! I'm glad you got the opportunity to go and bring hubby so he can appreciate your interest. It's a fascinating craft.

I know what you mean when you see all that merchandise screaming for you to take it home. In my fantasy thinking, if I had Oprah's kind of $$$ (honestly, I wouldn't want it) I'd quilt shop myself silly.

Sounds wonderful. I went to my first one last year. Just a local one but when I walked through the doors I couldn't breath for a bit. It just takes your breath away. I'm so glad you had so much fun.

At my first quilt show, I went into sensory overload. It was great.

I wish that hubby went. he was at work. took my mom with me. she loved it also. She isn't a quilter, but loved to touch and feel fabric. she would just buy fabric to have in the house if she could. not for any particular reason but because it is pretty.

Ok here is what you do. Start clipping coupons, cutting back on the grocery budget, buy cheaper detergent, cheaper everything, etc. and have that savings stashed for the next quilt show and leave hubby home.

I would NEVER take my husband to a quilting event. I don't want him knowing how much everything costs. My mother told me, "They don't need to know everything."
