    Hiya all,

Just wanted to let you know that I went to my first meeting of a local quilt group on Friday and I really enjoyed it! There were about two thirds French and one third English ladies there and it was great to see all the different techniques and projects and to just sit and sew and natter at the same time; I've already signed up for a Dear Jane project that will be auctioned for the local community! :D

I just wanted to thank you all because it's all the support and encouragement I had since joining the board that gave me the kick up the pants I needed to finally get my butt there!

    Thanks friends!!
    :D

Glad you had a good time. I wish there was a group around/near me..but I'm afraid that there isn't.... Glad you found your group! Tell us more about the Dear Jane project...are you just making a block to add to it or are you doing the whole quilt????

Everyone is each making a block Pat, we each pick a folder 'blind' with instructions and a backgound fabric then we use our own stash to make the block following a loosly prescribed colour theme. I've no idea who is assembling and quilting it - maybe we can send it to Jackie!!!

Dear Jane quilts are awesome. Show and tell which one you are making won´t you. They are really beautiful.

The quilt guild I belong to meets in the evening, the third Thursday of the month from 7 until about 9. We usually have a speaker and then do Show and Tell! Every other year we have a Quilt show in the fall. This is the year, so we are working on pieces to be hung for the show which is open to all memembers and really a fun show. We have about 100 members, mostly women. The skills run all over the gamut and so do interests. We have national award winning hand quilters, to beginners, appliquers, piecers, machine quilters and....

Shemjo, a Dear Jane is a quilt made originally in the 1800´s or so, very intricate and copied many times over 100 6" blocks in it I believe, Just Google Dear Jane and you will get it, the copies are called Baby Janes.
