    Default My Goodwill trip!!!!

I am so excited, yesterday my dh and I went Christmas shopping (browsing) in one of the little towns on the eastern shore. We saw a Goodwill Store and well, the truck just found a parking spot right outside the door!!! It was a smaller store and the DH made his way to the book area while i headed to the linen part. While we were getting a cart, there was a mother with 3 children at the register and we heard her saying to them that even Santa is having a hard time, and she is helping him out and buying their presents. The little one's eyes were opened wide, and they understood, and the middle one (about 5 years old), said "Just like us?". The mother shook her head, yes. The register total was $5 more than she could scrape together for the gifts, and alligator tears started to fall from the littlest ones eyes as the mother started to put aside some clothes. My husband stepped over to the mother and gave her $10, and she hugged him. The little one then whispered in a loud 3 or 4 year old voice "Are you Santa, are your looking for work too? Where's your reindeers, and your red suit?" There were tears in alot of eyes yesterday, but sometimes it takes a little bit to know that times are hard for alot of people too. (My husband has a white beard and white hair and carries a little bit of weight around his middle.

We went on to shop, wallet a bit lighter, but hey Christmas is for kids. And much to my surprise I found a stash of fabric, over 70 yards and it cost under $25.00. The universe pays back, always remember. Here are pictures of the great fabric, 8 pieces are 6 yards+, the smaller ones are 2+ yards, and a bunch of fat quarters. This is my Christmas story.

Now...THAT IS the true meaning of Christmas. Your post brought a big smile to my face.

BTW...I've been through Seaford. Used to own a vacation place in Long Neck. Did a few trips to Harrington and took the LONG way down through Millsboro...then west and then north. We sold the place in Sept. 2005 and used the money to put in an inground pool here. But we sure had fun "down the shore".

What goes around comes around. The reward for your kindness was almost instant. Isn't it fun to help out the next generation.
