Default Gutermann thread sale?

WAWAK has their gutermann thread on sale this month for 25% off - $1.86 for 1094 yards of 100 % polyester, http://www.wawak.com/products/product.cfm?pID=9505 . When I checked the price at JoAnn's, they list it for $8.19. http://www.joann.com/gutermann-sew-a...yds-/prd13385/ Is this the same thread? Is it worth trying? Just FYI, WAWAK also has #3 nylon zippers on sale - buy 2, get one free - and their regular price is .49 for a 24" zipper - what I went online to buy before I got sidetracked

Just to note: the sale thread is polyester. Nothing wrong with that but make sure you know what you are buying! I get Gutterman's from Joanne's but use the cotton. Don't see any cotton on site mentioned. They also show spools for 11.85 so make sure you are doing price comparisons on the exact same thread.

I like Guttermann's poly much better then their cotton thread. If I didn't have enough thread to last me for years I'd stock up with this sale.

Yes, I knew the thread was polyester but so is the JoAnn's thread I linked to for $8.19 for the same yardage. Still not sure what the difference is but I will probably just add a few rolls to my order & see.

Thanks for the links!

It is curious that for the same brand and yardage threads why WAWAK and Joann's have different type spools.

There isn't a different thread factory for every brand of thread. One distributor may ask for different type and size of spools for the same thread. And spools vary in cost too. A good buy on one type of spool may be available for orders not specific to one brand's mandatory size.

Just FYI, here is the reply from WAWAK. "As for the Gutermann thread that is 100% polyester thread and it is made in Germany. This is a sew all thread." And I made a mistake in the zipper price - a 24" zipper is 58 cents because the quantity discount does not apply during the buy 2 get 1 free sale. Sorry for any confusion. And all their #3 nylon zippers are on sale.

Just FYI. Received my order and the thread is the Gutermann Mara 100 - a Tex 30 polyester thread. Sew-All at Jo-Ann's is Tex-30 too so this may just be the "industrial" version. I'll see how my machine likes it.
