we have an 8th grade quilt class and most of the machines we use are the older, tough models. The newer models with all that plastic just don't hold up with these kids. Its my job to keep them oiled cleaned and in running condition LOL sometimes a real test. I have a kenmore from 1978 that had developed a click click evertime the needle went up and down and my local guy fixed it...said there was just a glitch in the timing and everything OK now. Love it for jeans etc.

What a find T. You'll have a great time with that machine - once a bobbin can be loaded. :)

I believe you're correct in that New Home/Janome did the Sears Kenmore...still does, I've heard.

And, yes! That IS a beutiful machine you have!

Debra, I'm hoping my little granddaughter, Molly, will have the desire to sew. (Her mom had no desire to do so, but she does have an awesome sense of color and style!) I'd love for Molly to learn to sew on my mother's Singer Golden Touch and Sew, which I was blessed to have inherited...it's close to 40 years old...still sews like a dream!

Hey JoJo47, we are suppose to learn to sew this summer. She will be almost 6 then. Loves clothes & bright colors & loves to cook with grammie so sewing is next.

Lucky you, Terri! Does it sew as good as it looks?

After reading that, I realize it sounds crappy - I didn't mean it that way. I think it loods GREAT!

Terri , I love it, it is so pretty. How often do you get to the big Island? How far is it? Cindy
