I bought a Featherweight 5 years or so ago. I wanted a small, travel machine. She's hardly in pristine condition, although stitches are lovely, and her 73rd birthday is in a few days (12/18). When I bought it, I thought that in addition to being a travel machine for me, it would be a little hobby for my husband when he retired. You know, take it apart, deep cleaning, reassembling, etc..

Well, he doesn't seem to have any interest in retiring, let alone my little plan for him, lol. I've decided to rehome her, but don't know where to start. I've bought two used Bernina's from an owner's website specifically for Bernina's. Is there such a thing for FW's?

Thanks for any help you can offer. I know some people love them and rave about them, but it's just not for me.

Craigslist always has featherweights for sale. That's how I bought mine, many years ago.

If you're on facebook you can check marketplace to get an idea of asking prices in your area. On craigslist here, south of St Louis, I see them for $350-550.

I don't have a FW, so have never been to the FW shop website, maybe they have something there as well.

I had a black one and a celery one and used them extensively in the late 90's. I've since sold them both because of eye issues, I need a self threader and much better lighting.
If you get the Johnson-Sebro book you will know everying you need to know to maintain your machine.

SewItsForSale has had several FW's sell in the last year or so. It's free to list and sell. Lots of rules about listing but it would probably be worth it.

Do you have a local guild or quilt shop? I work at a quilt shop and people are always coming in to ask if we know of anyone with a FW for sale. You could ask to post an ad in the guild newsletter or place an ad at the quilt shop.
