What in the bag is not "Usable" there are some projects where you can use non quilting fabric. I try to think of these projects when attempti ng to discard unwanted fabric.
For instance: Heavier fabric can be used to make shorts to go overseas (similar to the Little Dresses project). There is another project called "Ugly Quilts". These are sleeping bags for the homeless and the organization suggest all kinds of otherwise usable fabric (decorator, heavier).
I recently had some strips from cutting fleese blankets and I serged the edges for winter scarves.
I know it takes time to do this but when I have at least 1/2 yd left from a project and I know I won't use it, I make a Little Dress. Even have sewed pieces together to make it long enough.

What a wonderful granddaughter you have. I am sure yoiu will find uses for all of the stuff. Just for fun, put some pics on here of the 'unusable' stuff and perhaps others here can give you some suggestions. :-)

Welcome to the club...you know, "she who dies with the most fabric wins!" Not really, but it is fun to have extra fabric on hand. However, don't think this will curb your interest in buying fabric whenever there's a sale on. I find myself STILL buying even when I don't have a project in mind. Crazy or what?? But sure is fun. Enjoy!
