There is a waterproof fabric called PUL that is used in making cloth diaper covers, etc. It is a polyester knit that is laminated. It remains soft, not shiny. Fabric.com and other online children's fabric/sewing shops sell it. It comes in bright colors and sometimes prints, so you can use it by itself to make lunch sacks.

Is there a reason you don't want to make them washable? That's what I'd prefer. Just throw the fabric sack into the washer.

If you don't plan on throwing them in the wash, clear vinyl would be your most cost-efficient choice. There are some soft vinyls that would work well for you, it comes pretty wide and cost is about $2.00 a yard.

thanks so much..I would like them washable as well as wipable. I figure if there is anything like a gummy snack put in them, the liner would be an advantage to just fabric...Off to find PUL today!!
