Lightbulb Need advice on quilt design for John Deere Quilt

This is a very colorful quilt using lots of different fabrics. I was trying to show what the land looks like from an airplane, while incorporating John Deere fabric and color. I don't want to take away from the prints, but rather draw attention to how the landscape changes from one acre to another in the air.

Should I stitch in the ditch?
Should I do free motion designs?
All one design? I was thinking of the wave design but it just looks so busy over this very busy fabric.

Should I stitch 1/8 inch from the seam around all of the blocks or just some of them?
I have a yellow thread that exactly match the border and the back, I was thinking of using that.
I will add a pix of the entire quilt if that will help.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Since you are going for landscape, I might quilt undulating lines across the quilt. You could use a walking foot since the curves would be gentle. Cute top!

I would use gentle wavy lines horizontally, thinking "amber waves of grain".

Love your idea. Being from the Midwest, I have always loved the changing landscape from a plane too, with the fields planted in different crops, the furrows and roads, and houses few and far between. I think a serpentine stitch would serve you well if you have it as a stitch on your machine (shallow elongated "S" shapes). It kind of replicates the tilling in the fields. Here is a block I made for a quilt signifying where we live, using a similar idea.

I really like John Deere quilts, and your idea to mix the fields in with the tractor image fabric is wonderful!

I would quilt horizontal or vertical lines across some of the blocks, others I would tie in regular rows to represent the plants growing in the fields.
