Hi,
I am quilting for a year, and I am not a perfectionist!! I stick with rectangles and squares for the most part, because I don't have the patience it takes to make all the little points match up, etc., etc. Even thinking about it makes my eyes go back into my head!! So...I am looking for an easy pattern for a house block. I do know how to make triangles/pinwheels through the Missouri quilt company tutorial, but I don't know how to translate that to triangles for a house.

Can anyone point me in a direction for a pattern? I searched the forums, and didn't seem to come up with anything. I am not fussy about what kind, I want to do a Christmas wall hanging with the house block, so just as long as it is cute - and easy!!!

This will work well, if you figure out what size squares you need to make so you can chain sew for the roof/sky, and roof/house squares in this pattern. If you want to pm me later this week, I plan to figure out, by going backwards, to see what size original squares we need to make for this pattern. I'm already working on this pattern.

There's a Log Cabin style on here somewhere. It's a finished quilt, not just the pattern for the block, but it would be easy to figure it out.

If you did check out that link I posted earlier for making 1/2 triangle squares quickly, then you may be interested in knowing that if you start with;

4 1/2" squares you will get four 2 3/4" squares using that method
5".......................................four 3 1/4" squares
5 1/2"................................four 3 1/2" squares
6"......................................four 3 3/4" squares
6 1/2"................................four 4 1/4" squares
7"......................................four 4 1/2" squares
8"......................................four 5 1/4" squares

These were my measurements. To be sure that you get the same, you can always use scrap fabric to test it yourself. I had some fabric that I looked at while I was re-organizing a few months back and was like "Why in the world would I pay money for this?" So I used that to test the different measurements. Good luck!
