Without a lot of detail, I am disabled and need every advantage I can get. My wife purchased these Fiskars scissors a couple of years ago to cut a rag quilts and they work great. Now that I am quilting they are a great asset for my hands and fit 'me' better than any I have used so I use them as much as I can.

So, I sure would like to have another pair but with 'longer' blades for general fabric cutting. Fiskars used to make them but the company has just informed me they are now obsolete.

Does anyone know where I might find these older Comfort Grip Scissors with longer blades? It would make GrandPa happy...and more productive I'd imagine. :D

Thanks and blessings and Happy Quilting...

Maybe try searching for comfort grip shears instead of scissors? :D:D:D

Grandpa have you tried the spring action scissors by Fiskars? They have them in both the short and longer sizes and I find they really help my hands from cramping. Otherwise, will keep my eyes open for a pair like you want.

No, I haven't tried them but I will check them out. But I will still keep my eye out for these as they work so well for me. But, maybe the spring action will work well also or maybe better.

Are there others that use the spring action for fabric and do they work well for you? Is there any downside to these?

Thanks so much for your suggestions... :-)

I did buy a pair of the comford grip spring action scissors about a month ago and I love them .
I live in California and bought them at "Beverly's fabrics "with a 40% off coupon. Guess I was lucky they still had some "old stock'!
I hope you do find a pair as they are really nice to use.

Good luck!!

I use spring action scissors for rag quilts - really saves the hands. I have the ones from Fiskars - http://www.overstock.com/Crafts-Sewi...2/product.html

I also have some from Heritage Cutlery, but haven't tried them out yet.

For Christmas gifts I made over 20 faux chenille pot holders. My hands were getting very sore, until I bought a pair of Fiskars spring action 'Razor Edged' scissors. They have a comfort grip. I found them at Joanne's, using a coupon of course. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you. You have to be able to create!

I have an older pair of the spring action I like em. I lost the spring on one pair(a small pair had the same spring and I was not using em) I took out that spring and put it into the pair I am still using

Good Luck GrandPa I hope you find em

I found a pair of these at Joann's. I would imagine some shops would still have some in stock. Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Clothilde, and Nancy Notions may still have them.
