Post a photo of the block you intend to make and your available fabric choices - we love to give opinions!

If it's depression fabrics, I think it should be white or ivory.imho But yes, pics of fabrics would be good.

I think any of those choices would work well as long as you get the light and dark effect.

Are u using those colors to represent the economist situation of the era, or an actual reproduction quilt made in those times?

The depression block is intended to have high contrast so I definitely wouldn't use black as the "light" color. Even the light blue and purple would probably lessen the power of the block greatly, melting away the impact of the contrast.

The choice between white and tan would depend on the feeling you want the quilt to convey. White would give a sharp, this-is-it, almost black/white impression, while a tan/cream would ellicit a softer, more hopeful if you will, response.

Thank you for all the responces . I still have to purchase the fabric, I'm torn between the ivory and the white. Think I'm leaning toward the ivory.

I'd go with ivory or cream colors. Something with a yellow undertone. It would be a nice contrast to the purple and/or blue.

I vote for tan. Do you have the other fabrics yet?
