I am making a quilt that has a large floral print. It also has tone on tone blocks. I want to spruce it up by fusing and appliqueing flowers on the tone on tone blocks that spill over into the border. Would you fuse and applique after quilting or before?

I did that with butterflies that I cut out of fabric, appliqued them before quilting and quilted around them.

I would do it before. It sounds so pretty. Please share a pic with us.

Depends.....are you long arming? If I am just adding a few appliques on top....I do it when I am quilting.....if not long arming..I would do it before.

I think it might not lay down as nicely if you appliqued after quilting.
I sure do love the way that looks, anything spilling over into the borders :D:D:D
