Default Need help finding a walking and free motion quilting foot

I bought a Viking 945 to help a friend get started sewing / quilting. It works great and she is loving both the machine and the sewing. However, I have tried and tried to find both a walking foot and a free motion quilting foot for this machine to no avail. If any of you know of a source or have one or both for sale I would be so relieved to finally have this search off my bucket list. Also, it was suggested to me that a roller foot might do the job. Do any of you have experience with that foot? And another also, this machine has a slant needle ( I think that is what it is called. Does that mean that it is neither a low shank or a high shank machine? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes..there are 3 types of foot shanks, short, long and slanted. Any foot you buy will need to specify for slant shank machines. A google search for "slant shank presser feet" will bring up a ton of feet at a variety of price points.

As far as I know, only Singer made a slant shank machine, so it is very unlikely you have a Viking with a slant needle or shank.

If you will do a google search for a slant shank machine (or long or short shank), you will most likely get an explanation of the different kinds of shanks (some with photos). It's what Donna said with more detail. Also you can search on quiltingboard for the same thing. There have been threads on the vintage sewing machine forum about that subject in the not too distant past.

Viking indeed made slant shank machines. A quick search turns up

"-These models have the older unique Viking slant shank: Models #1+, 1250, #1, 1200, 1100, 1090, 1070, 1050, 990, 980, 960, 950, 945 & 940; all of the genuine Viking snap on feet will fit, there is a specialty screw on walking foot still available. The ruffler is no longer available. Generic feet will not fit these models."
