Default Opinions please on scalloped quilt border

Now that all of you have helped me with the scalloped border,,, before I go any further, do you feel that a candy stripe border (second border, first is solid. then candy stripe then wide border in white for scallop) is too busy for a quilt? Is it overkill or do you think it would look o.k. sorry, no camera. Thanks in advanced

Hmmm kind of hard to imagine without a picture.... have you auditioned your options?

Personally, I love to reserve stripes for binding, I think it adds a lot of zing.

I think because the first is a solid and the last is white, they should calm the candy stripe. I love striped bindings as well, but you have to be good not to mess up the stripe.

Oh yes, I have red and white left over from Christmas fabric to bind it with. I love striped bindings and think it add a lot to the quilt. I love them better than a solid, which i hardly ever use.

I love striped bias binding and if you are doing scallops, you might as well showcase them.

It would have been nice to see a picture of what you intend to do but I think it sounds good not overkill at all.

Hard to say without a pic of the exact fabric, do you have the name? Are you going to run the stripes the long or short way? Are you going to miter the corners? I guess I would audition it by folding the target fabrics and taking a look. If you still can't decide, take it up to the quilt shop.
