I made this quilt in a weekend. Began with a large square 101/2" one square plain and other children's fabric. Then I drew lines across to make 8 triangles by sewing each side of the diagonals. Cut on diagonal then cut an + to make the eight , open and you have 8 pin wheels.just joined as many as I had fabric for then sandwiched and quilted each side of lines. Bound and finished.
sorry didn't take a picture it was just pinwheels no border as it was big enough

I'm going to make this one for my niece. I hope to finish it in order to ship for her 3rd birthday on Jan 30th. I'm going to make hers with grey and white foxes on a violet pastel background. I started with pinwheels, but got extremely frustrated. Dotty, do you think you might be able to post some pix and step by step instructions on your method? That sounds very easy!

There is a book on Amazon and Target called Modern Baby (which I can't seem to link to on my mobile). The cover quilt with the fish may be even faster than pinwheels and is seriously cute. I bought this one, and I can say that there are many other possibilities inside.

Super easy would be to sew together 6" or so strips of a baby fabric alternating with a coordinating fabric from your stash.
Another quick quilt would be a solid color with appliqued animals of different fabrics - teddy bears, cats, bunnys or even stars and quarter moons. I like to do the applique where you sew the shape together with iron on interfacing (right side of fabric to sticky side of interfacing), trim, snip the center of the interfacing and turn, iron on and sew down. Or you can do raw edge applique.

And by the way I made this one super fast because I wanted to try out a fleece throw as a backing that I bought on sale for $2.49! I didn't use batting and it turned out better than I thought.
