I have a friend who's mom hand quilts and she is looking for a hand quilting frame at a reasonable price. Any ideas from all my wonderful friends here?

Sure wish you were closer. I have a very large 3 rail Gracie frame I would love to sell...... The rails are 96 inches, so hard to ship.....

I use a hoop in my lap. I hand quilt lap/queen size quilts with it. I have used several hoops but my favorite is a 14 inch round by F A Edmonds. It is very rigid. That is important because if it bends then the quilt slips.

I use a Q-Snap floor frame. Its light weight and easy to attach the quilt and to move around if you need to. It has a nice size work area, too.

I love-love-love my Gracie Z44 frame ~ I can put it up when needed, and take it down and put the sides in the closet & the poles in the corner when not needed. I remember getting it online for around $350? It's been a few years.

If she wants a smaller size frame and has room for a square frame you sit at, I remember seeing a PVC framework at JoAnn's ~ wait until its not on sale & use a coupon (ha ha 50% starts in a few days)... That gives about a 2-3 foot working area?

Thanks Everyone. I made a trip to Mary Jo's today and she had 2 (one portable pvc and one wooden stand) that may be what she is looking for. Happy Quilting!
