Lisa Moore has a number of patterns that are great for theme fabric - everything from photo album to similar to attic windows, to circles or ribbons surrounding focal fabric. Take a look: http://www.quiltswithatwist.com/

I like the idea of the barn in the middle surrounded by squares of farm animals. They could be paper pieced, applique or just animal print fabrics. For accents how about some animal hide prints, you know black and white cows and brown horse etc....perhaps as the borders. I think Eleanor Burns also has a book with nothing but barns.

I like Rangers idea of Attic Windows. Other than that no idea of my own but it's very sweet and kind of you to think of her.

McKenna Ryan has a quilt pattern called "Back on the Farm" - Just in case you are not familiar with her patterns...they are very detailed applique using batiks that you fuse and then FMQ. Most of her quilts are made up of various size blocks and you can purchase the whole pattern or by the block. Take a look at her Back on the Farm - you might get some more ideas.

You could, as Ranger said, make attic windows. If it were me, I'd machine embroider different animals in each window. It would be a one of a kind and she'd love it. I have several animals in my embroidery catalog, so if you are interested in that idea, send me a pm and let me know which designs you need.

I, too, like the idea of a barn in the middle and animals around the sides. The Attic Window is a neat idea also, so maybe you could combine the two ideas.

I guess it depends on your skill level and/or ambition. McKenna Ryan has a lot of wonderful appliqué patterns, or there are lots and lots of panels that could be surrounded by various blocks. I'm sure you problem will be narrowing down your choices! She's a lucky young girl to be getting such a thoughtful gift!

Just an idea. Try looking for coloring books for picture ideas. It's just another source for pictures. these can be enlarged or shrank to the size you need. Good Luck with what ever you decide.
