Hello everyone. I posted my king scrappy beast quilt the other day. I usually use warm and natural for batting and I found some at Joanns online only for 120 x120 size. However, my husband talked me into going to joanns to see they had any to save money. Well, they didnt have any warm and natuarl that size. So I found the Mountain Myst cream rose in the 120x120 size. I have never used this, but I bought it. I came home and looked it up on line and found some reviews saying that it shinks about 4"!!!! Now it took me forever to get my quilt to a king size, I sure dont want it to shrink that much! Sigh

Anyone use the mountain myst and have it shrink that much?

I bought this exact batting one time on the suggestion of a Joann employee that I trust. It was for a baby quilt. The employee talked about how soft it made the quilt and how it made it drape so nice. Well, I gotta tell you, I used it and was greatly disappointed! I felt like it was too thin for a baby quilt. To me, it felt like I had a piece of cotton fabric as the batting. During and after I quilted the quilt, I keep thinking: This is not going to be good. I was really disappointed in the end result. However, it did wash up nice and I didn't notice any large amount of shrinkage. To me, the wrinkled affect a quilt gets after washing was the same for this batting as with Warm and Natural. I have one package of Hobbs Dream and the rest of my battings are Warm and Natural and I don't think I am going to venture beyond these two brands again.

It is thinner than warm and natural , but for some in warmer climates its a good choice. I have used it and it does drape really nicely ( better than W&N)as it does not have a scrim like Warm and Natural. As for the shrinkage I found it to be just a bit more than warm and natural. Do take note of how close the quilting is required, as it is much closer than Warm and Natural.
Its a great choice if you were to hand quilt, as it needles really well.

I've used Cream Rose for hand quilting, never tried it on a machine. I've found that it's easy to work with and it drapes nicely. It is a thinner batting, but I have to say after having slept under it with the air conditioner blowing full blastI can say with certainty that it will keep you warm. I know that it shrinks some - prehaps a little more than other brands, but i've never had a major issue with it.

I used Cream Rose and loved it because of the softness after I washed it. I used it on a large throw quilt so really don't know how much it shrunk--but I will definitely use it again.

the shrinkage is determined by the amount of quilting too- if you quilt fairly densely (like every 2"-4") it probably will not shrink as much as what the package says- also- if you don't throw it into hot water- hot dryer- cool water & a medium or fluff dry will keep it from shrinking alot. it is a thin batt

Just for comfort and knowledge, check out this batting which comes in a 122" x 122" size.

I use ONLY cotton or wool batting for personal quilts, but had to use poly for a commission and was rather happy with this one. It feels more like cotton that other poly batts; read why!
