I bought candles for some friends of mine and thought it would be great to make candle mats for them, however I don't have a quick pattern and only have 2 nites to make them in! Anyone got any suggestions or am I biting off more than I can do? I could embrodiered them a towel, but I really want a candle mat. All my ideas are getting me into trouble :

I found a really neat site today that has some simple graphics that can quickly be made to quilts.

The candle mats I've made are all from felted wool. Do you have any on hand, or do you need to make them from cottons?

Here's a free pattern I found, I see it's over 11" but I just measured mine and they are 8" which I find a perfect size, so maybe you could scale this pattern down?

Or you could use this idea, but make a snowman face or tree instead of a heart? http://www.lovetosew.com/countyheartcandlemat.htm

What about squares or pin wheels?

I make my candle mats 6" finished and use different quilt blocks for patterns. I just put one layer of w&n in them, quilt and bind the edges. If you like to applique you could do that or do some embroidery on it. Just do what makes you happy and have fun doing it!
