Default need pattern finding help

my sil is having a baby and i am making the bedding set for her. the babies room is deer in a meadow theme. She found a bedding set that she kinda likes but not in the colors. here is a link.
http://www.creativebabybedding.com/willow1.html
anyone have any ideas as to what to do? the set is okay but she wants more to the bedding. and she doesn't really know how to explain it to me. she likes kinda the stained glass look and I am going to be using batiks for this project. I have never done applique and am going to give i a shot. if you have any ideas that are not applique please please please share them. thanks for your help in this. i am soooo at a loss with this.

Applique is the easiest method there is. Fusible applique I should say. Don't be afraid of it. It is fun. It is so easy. Watch a youtube on it and see. Once you try it, you'll love its simplicity. I promise.

If you're using batik I wouldn't suggest hand appliqué because it's hard to get nice soft curves with batiks.

bella boo thank you so much for the links they were perfect. I just have to show them to my sil and see if she loves them. I hope so. It will look nicer than what she is wanting.

The kitty and puppy were featured in Quilters Newletter Magazine a few years ago. They are really cute but even after enlarging the kitty, I have not had the courage to attempt the piecing. You have done some outstanding paper piecing on your quilts so you should have no problems.

besides, batiks are just difficult to hand needle. the weave is usually so much tighter than regular cottons. BUT, i don't see any problem with machine applique as long as you don't try to fold the edges under.
