Need some inspiration
Just before Christmas I stopped at a garage sale on impulse and found an absolutely gorgeous lace tablecloth. It is 'very' large and I have tried to come up with a way to cut it down to fit my 8' oval table but he design just won't work, so I am thinking of appliquing it to a solid piece of fabric and turning it into a quilt. I am thinking soft gray duponi silk. What do you think? Have any suggestions or ideas? Have any of you done anything like this. I have made shabby chic items, but never anything big like this.

I think appliquéing it down is a nice idea. Do you think the Duponi would detract from the design of the crocheted piece? When I think of Duponi I think of slight shine and texture. Maybe a nice solid cotton or canvas would show case it nicer? Just my thoughts, I would love to see photos when you are done whatever you decide!

When I think lace a fine fabric like silk or cotton sateen definitely come to mind. Lace needs something fine and rich to set it off. I'm sure it would be beautiful. Look forward to seeing what you do with it.
