Default New here -- Viking presser foot?

hi all - I have looked high and low for help on this, and want to make sure I'm getting the right thing. I have a (20+yr old) Viking Classic 105 machine. I have the "A" foot and "E" foot and a plastic foot I'm not sure about.
I want to try some free motion quilting but online searches show various items from $7.00-$40.00. I want to make sure I'm getting the right thing. Is the "DARNING FOOT" the same as a "QUILTING" foot? I know I am to lower the feed and set the presser foot pressure at darning.
I am a new sewer/quilting but learning...any advice is much appreciated. I have Jo Ann's and Hancock fabric stores nearby but they've been no help. thanks!!

Hi, I have an older machine, a Viking Lily. I use a darning foot when I free motion quilt. It was not too expensive and works just fine.

Viking makes more than one foot that you can do FMQ with. Some of the older machines.. only the darning foot is available . My sister has such a machine that only a darning foot will fit her model. She has tried mine ( the typical foot )and prefers the darning foot to the other style.

These two are basically the same thing. If you go to Viking's website they have an accessory guide that shows all the attachments for all the machines. First you look in the front to see what number category yours is in. My Viking #1 is in category 1 and my Ruby is in #7 so when I'm looking at accessories anything with a 1 will fit my #1 and anything with a #7 will fit my Ruby and somethings fit alot of machines. Good luck. I'm not sure where you are but have you contacted a Viking store. If you let us know about where you live someone might be able to give you a store fairly close to you where you could call or go to for help.

Welcome also to the QB. You might also post your query on the Vintage Sewing Machine section.
