I think I got most of this figured out.......I think.

I decided to ditch the batik. I think I'll go with the marble fabrics Sue (I think it was Sue) posted on here. I found one that I feel will work. The only problem is part of me is thinking "Its not that 'blood red' Deni likes. Its too much of a bright red."

http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/catalog_itemdetail.aspx?ItmID=FP705

Probably won't go for that rich black Amish fabric I found, unless someone here thinks it'd be worth getting that over plain ol' black fabric.

Now all that's left to figure out is the templates and how much fabric I need. I really hate to ask, but would anyone with EQ want to make templates for the blocks I have (just three---the half pinwheel thing, a pinwheel, and a Virginia Reel). Need 10" blocks. I'd do it myself if I had EQ and I don't trust myself making them on graph paper---knowing me I'll probably get the sizes wrong, forget the seam allowances, mess up an angle on a triangle, or screw up somewhere. I'm just not good at figuring out the sizes of the actual pieces. :( Everything else I can figure out...just not how big the pieces have to be.

Erica's@erica's.com has beautiful fabric. I used to work there. You will love their fabrics. Lots of choices. Anxious to see your quilt. I started to give you measurements as I have my chart next to my computer but someone beat me too it. I like the idea of making it a queen because no one likes the little full size so they will probably get bigger when they can.

I just can't wait until I get everything figured out. I got most of the planning done. Someone gave me a website to figure out my yardage...the numbers I got on there weren't too far off from what I got with my calculator and lots and lots of paper. All that's left is to figure out the yardage for the backing and border. The backing it'll figure out just fine, but not the borders...well, it can figure out border yardage, but it only does even borders. Doesn't help I got two different widths for my borders. So I'm not sure how to go about that.

Your "Tsunami" quilt is absolutely beautiful, but ............I have to ask it............ Seeing that you gave us the charts and what the blocks are to look like........please could you also give us a drawing of the templetes, or the rotary cutting ways you used. I AM DYING TO MAKE ONE and I know I'm not the only one.
Sincerely
Kasapa

amma offered to make templates for me. When she emails them to me I'll post them. :) They'll make 10" blocks so you'll be able to make a 70"x90" quilt (without borders).

If I ever get EQ someday I'll have to make templates for different quilt sizes (full, queen, king, etc).

If you can give me a day or two, I will give measurements so you can rotary cut the blocks. Kids are home this week, so I don't have as much time as I would like, but I should be able to have the information ready to post by the end of the week.

I am going to send you the templates so that you can make block 1 with a rectangle, a square and only 1 1/2 square triangle out of the red and black, if you would like to make it that way. Less cutting and dealing with bias edges this way. Block # 2 would be a rectangle and 2 1/2 square triangles out of the red and black. Just another option..... :)

I don't quite understand how that would work. But I'd rather have the indivual triangles I got. Its just that I put a lot of work into this design so I'm pretty set on using this layout using these pieces. I don't want to go changing things so late in the game.
