One of the ones in progress is a Judy Niemeyer called Rain Drops. I am changing the layout a little. Another is a string x and I am putting little flowers out of hexies where the blocks join. here are photos of my progress.

I am going completely out of my comfort zone and decided to purchase Tula Pink's new "Hex on the Beach" quilt kit - it has over 1000 hexagons (pre-cut) and the hexagon papers for english paper piecing - never thought I would try that but I am excited to learn something new - I think it will be nice to have a travel project or watching the tv at night project - hopefully I will finish in 2013 also.

I love having a hand sewing project going, it is amazing how much you can get done in just those 15 or 20 minutes here and there. This sounds like a great project.

My main focus right now is working on my daughter's wedding dress. We have everything we need now to start it, just the fitting of the pattern is next. The pattern is 4 sizes too small. Sigh. Its a vintage pattern and its the only size we could find. So, first I have to enlarge the pattern, make a sample dress, get all the fitting right, and then start on the real one. I have until April, so I should be good, as long as everything goes smooth after the sample dress. Wish me luck : )

Once I get done with that. Oh my I have a list a mile long for next year's Christmas presents. So I am going to be very busy.

I must finish a patriotic quilt for my husbands military reunion. I signed up for a Craftsy's Art Quilting: Pictorial Technique, debating on ordering a kit from Connecting Threads - Floating Stars, finished tops that need quilting - flip flop, delectable mountain, Ohio star variation two colored quilt, and a flannel. Wow!!! I need to get started. I'm sure as the year progresses there will be more request and things that I can't pass up.

I have way too many ideas swirling around in my head. I am trying to control them so I don't start too many projects and end up with a ton more UFO's. One goal is to finish my UFO's. I have a new rule for myself this year that I can't start a new project until I finish 2 UFO's. I am doing the stash buster train ride quilt on here. My DD ia pregnant and i need to make a baby quilt. I have a bargello to make called Bright Nights Bargello by Becky Botello. I have all 24 fabrics for it but haven't started. I also want to do a Judy Neimeyer quilt probably her new Mariners Compass one. I have a quilt to make for my nephew he is paying me to make a Tardis quilt (had to look up what that is). This is enough to keep me busy all year but I am sure I will start some other projects. I also will throw in a couple of charity projects. Unfortunately work and sleep interfere with my quilting time.

That's a good question. I'm really torn. I have a few UFOs that I need to finish and I've promised myself that I will finish them this year. But I'm afraid that if I do nothing but finish UFOs my "hobby" will seem more like a chore than a "hobby." My hobby is supposed to be fun but I've stopped working on these quilts for various reasons, boredom, etc. For me the fun of my "hobby" is choosing the fabrics and patterns and learning new techniques. I don't just start quilts, I finish them, too. But I've had these few UFOs hanging over my head for too long and I want to finish them. So, what I plan to do is finish them this year and get them behind me so I can go back to having fun again.

Thanks to the UFO thread I finally got mine done that has been lingering for 15 years. So up next is a Japanese inspired quilt for a friend of mine using red batiks and grey applique, then a baby quilt for my friend in Finland - it looks like a wrapped present and is so cute! Then I am going to get some small quilts going for local uses - Yale New Haven Hospital Childrens, possibly the local fire department or the Women's Club - anyone who can use them for people in need. The 5 Minute block pattern shold be just the thing for those - fun and easy to do.

This year I want to make all my gifts for my family . For birthdays and stuff I don't know though. I wanted to do this for Christmas but put it off because I don't know if they'll like homemade stuff or not. How do you all get over being nervous and just go ahead a make the gifts and risk them liking them or not?
